Beko, a leading consumer goods brand, is delighted to collaborate with Plutaluang Wittaya School in Thailand to restore local coral reefs, as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
The partnership sees Beko work closely with Plutaluang Wittaya School's network of marine science learning and conservation centres, to restore coral reefs and release aquatic animals back into the ocean. The collaboration is also an important opportunity to engage with the school's young volunteers, equipping them with the valuable knowledge and skills to master the conservation and restoration of marine and aquatic resources in the area.
The scope of the project includes volunteers from the school and Beko Thai collecting the corals that have been damaged or trapped in fishing nets, and carefully re-planting them in restored plots. Following this, the volunteers worked to monitor the area to conserve and ensure the new plots of coral thrive. Additionally, the scope also includes volunteers releasing different aquatic animals such as crabs and sharks that had previously washed ashore, back into the ocean, and supporting the habitat's natural biodiversity.
This volunteering project will possibly reprise in upcoming years with Beko Thai partnering with different institutions such as the Science Marine Centre and WWF Thailand (World Wildlife Fund for Nature).

This is not the first sustainability project focusing on marine life conservation that Beko has been a part of.
