Due to administrative problems this year, BCTFN had to regrettably cancel the Ploenchit Fair. The Rotary Club of Bangkok South very kindly have stepped-in with generous support and I am delighted to tell you that the Ploenchit Fair will now take place at the above venue, for the third year, and be run as a joint venture between BCTFN and RCBS. All proceeds will, as usual, be for the benefit of Thai charities.
For those unfamiliar with the Fair, it will be celebrating its 52nd birthday this year and is a traditional fun day for all and has been one of the biggest events of the social calendar in Bangkok since it was first held in 1957. Proceeds from the Fair are administered by the BCTFN and distributed to charitable organizations throughout the country. Since the year 2000 over 45 million baht has been raised and distributed.
Ploenchit Fair 2009 will feature an enormous array of outdoor attractions and entertainment with 50 market stalls in the Petticoat Lane bazaar, stimulating activities for kids and adults including Go-Karts, Euro Bungy, Giant Wave Slide and 20 or so stalls with games of skill and chance. Thai, British and International cuisine and refreshments are available throughout the grounds and there is a full afternoon schedule of live entertainment on the breezy riverside stage. We are hoping to arrange for some special celebrity guests to be on hand to welcome the fun-loving crowd of Thai and international families who are expected to spend the whole day at this delightful event to have fun, meet friends, savour the unique fairground atmosphere and help and excellent cause.
