Broadband World Forum Europe - Sandvine, (TSX: SVC)(AIM: SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for cable, DSL, FTTx, fixed wireless and mobile operators, today announced the launch of the next generation Policy Traffic Switch 24000 (PTS 24000) platform. The PTS 24000, the latest in Sandvine's award-winning PTS lineup, offers throughput of up to 60 Gbps per box, and clusters to deployments of up to 240 Gbps, for market-leading performance.

Current customers deploying Sandvine's PTS 24000 include a leading fixed and wireless service provider network serving close to twenty million mobile subscribers and a tier- one service provider with one million subscribers, both customers are located in Europe.

"Founded on our early success and pioneering efforts with the PTS platform and network traffic management, Sandvine is in a unique position to offer industry-proven expertise and foresight to address the challenges arising from the evolution of the Internet," said Don Bowman, Sandvine co-founder, CTO. "Building on the success of our first and second generation platforms, we designed the PTS 24000 with aggregating interfaces and higher port density to address bandwidth and access speed network demands, all while reducing the total cost of ownership."

PTS 24000 highlights:
  • Clusters to scale to 240 Gigabits per second - ideal for the world's largest networks;
  • Available in models with 40 Gbps or 60 Gbps throughput per box, supporting a market-leading 5 million subscribers in a highly efficient four-rack-unit footprint;
  • Available for cable, DSL, fixed wireless and mobile networks and specifically designed for converging networks, with flexible fan-in, fan-out port configuration for network expansion;
  • Built carrier-grade with field-replaceable components that are easily and cost-effectively upgraded to accommodate future advances in technology;
  • N:N+1 redundancy for a simple, cost-effective solution;
  • Easily interfaces with third-party systems such as billing and charging operations and on-deck applications.

New rich media Internet applications are placing ever-growing demands for bandwidth and quality of service. While service providers are increasing their access speeds to meet the demand, history has shown that adding bandwidth alone is not a solution to the challenge of continuing to deliver quality service at a reasonable price.

"Networks are deploying new technologies and expanding in capacity all the time," said Mr. Bowman. "Sandvine's PTS 24000 scales to meet the demands of the world's largest data networks to help address capacity planning and support the introduction of new personalized services."

The Sandvine platform provides network policy control solutions for unparalleled network reporting, capacity planning, congestion management, new personalized service creation, malicious traffic mitigation and enhanced customer service.

With service provider customers in 70 countries serving over a hundred million broadband and wireless subscribers, Sandvine is enhancing the Internet experience worldwide. Additional information:

The PTS 24000 is the flagship offering in the PTS portfolio, the most widely deployed network intelligence platform in the world. With 40 Gbps and 60 Gbps models, the PTS 24000 is ideally suited for large networks poised for capacity growth. Like all models in the portfolio, the PTS 24000 is designed with a novel clustering approach that not only delivers true N:N+1 redundancy, but allows deployments to scale easily by adding units as the service provider's network grows in capacity. In the case of the PTS 24000, clusters can scale up to 240 Gbps and 5 million subscribers, making this model ideal for the world's largest networks.
