Air Freight Asia 2009 -- Descartes Systems Group (Nasdaq:DSGX) (TSX:DSG), a global on-demand software-as-a-service (SaaS) logistics solutions provider, has enhanced its Global Freight Exchange (GF-X) service to provide tighter, real-time integration with air carriers. The enhancements facilitate access to available capacity, routings and pricing when booking freight electronically.

GF-X member air carriers, including American Airlines Cargo, Air France Cargo - KLM Cargo, Delta Cargo and Continental Airlines Cargo, have identified real-time web services access to freight booking availability and rates as a key area of automation and efficiency. This web services capability provides freight forwarders with direct, real-time access to the carriers' systems, providing better use of available capacity and improved customer service for the carriers.

"At Descartes, we're focused on helping our customers streamline their operations and standardize their business processes," said Ed Ryan, Executive Vice President, Global Field Operations for Descartes. "By adding real-time web services, we increase automation and access to booking information for online air freight bookings. With Descartes' GF-X, air carriers can maximize their reach and ensure they are presenting a breadth of booking options to freight forwarders around the world."

Descartes' GF-X is one of the largest electronic information and reservation systems in the airfreight industry. Airfreight carriers can distribute real-time product, routing, capacity and rate information to their forwarders worldwide. Airfreight forwarders can access carrier information, make electronic bookings and track shipments via a web browser, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Descartes' GF-X is part of the Descartes Global Logistics Network(tm) (GLN), which enables the world's leading transportation providers to connect to their trading partners and reliably exchange information to drive delivery performance and high levels of customer satisfaction. The Descartes GLN helps companies better manage their logistics book-to-bill process, track inventory, meet regulatory requirements, optimize fleet performance, and effectively communicate with their logistics partners.

The latest version of Descartes GF-X will be showcased at the Descartes Exhibit Booth #5A23 at Air Freight Asia in Hong Kong, China from September 8 - 10, 2009.
