Streamlined Operations Enhance Blood Center Productivity
CaridianBCT, the leading global provider of technology, products and
services in the blood banking, transfusion medicine and cell therapy
industries, announced the global release of the Trima Accel®
Automated Blood Collection System Version 6.0. The latest version of the
flagship automated blood collection platform provides streamlined
operations and potentially increased cost savings for customers
worldwide.
As part of its commitment to listening to its customers and implementing
continuous product and service improvements, CaridianBCT updated the
Trima Accel system with additional features designed to enhance the
system’s versatility, particularly Auto RBC. For example, to help
streamline blood center operations, the new Auto RBC function automates
the in-line leukoreduction of red blood cells (RBCs), which eliminates
the need for lab processing with ready-to-store, leukoreduced RBC
products. With new platelet, plasma and RBC product configurations,
blood centers can collect any combination of components on one,
easy-to-use system—resulting in simplified operator processes for
overall increased efficiency.
“The Trima Accel system is a great multi-functional platform that has
been serving our goals and demand for many years,” said Dr. Per-Olof
Forsberg, director and medical advisor at Karlstad Hospital in Sweden.
“We have been extremely pleased with the latest version’s new and
updated features including the greater flexibility, ease of use, the
Auto RBC component and ability to streamline our entire procedure
processes.”
“From our apheresis technicians to lab clinicians at Mississippi Blood
Services, we have found the new features of the updated Trima system to
greatly improve overall productivity while decreasing risk of operator
error and optimizing time spent with donors,” said Missie Bray,
technical project specialist of Mississippi Blood Services.
“We are proud to offer the only apheresis system on the market today
with the versatility our customers need for full-spectrum blood
component combinations,” said Bob Cole, senior vice president of
Automated Collections at CaridianBCT. “Our customized approach to
providing the highest level of customer support combined with the new
additions to the Trima Accel system will deliver powerful results to
maximize productivity within the blood center.”
In conjunction with the updated Trima Accel system, CaridianBCT has also
released an enhanced version of the Vista Information System (Version
3.2). Available in select markets, the Vista system automates donor
eligibility while providing real-time collection visibility and
centralized management of procedure priorities. With new benefits,
including expanded lab capability and improved data management, the
updated Vista system maximizes the capabilities of the new Trima Accel
system.
