The cabinet meeting on Thursday, 29 March 2012 has come to the following decision:

Title: 3 drafts of the Royal Decree on Ministry of Commerce’s agencies organizatio

The cabinet acknowledged 3 drafts of the Royal Decree on Ministry of Commerce’s agencies organization which had been approved by Office of the Council of State and proposed by Ministry of Commerce, as follows:

1.Draft of the Royal Decree on Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce (no…) B.E…

2.Draft of the Royal Decree on Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce B.E… and

3.Draft of the Royal Decree on Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce B.E…

Those 3 drafts of the Royal Decree will be presented to Minister of Commerce for signature by the Secretariat of the Cabinet and published in the Government Gazette.

Title: A report on the progress of integrated flood relief, recovery, and prevention effort under the central government budget?

The cabinet acknowledged a report on the progress of integrated flood relief, recovery, and prevention effort under the central government budget worth 120,000 million Baht. Moreover, the cabinet assigned involved ministers, civil servants, and employees of state-owned enterprises to accelerate the implementation according to Bureau of the Budget’s and the Comptroller General’s Department’s proposal.

Title: A follow-up upon flood victim relief effort?

The cabinet acknowledged flood victim relief effort according to Bureau of the Budget’s and the Prime Minister’s Office’s proposal, as follows:

? According to Bureau of the Budget’s report on flood victim relief effort and the cabinet’s acknowledgement at the cabinet meeting on March 20, 2012, Bureau of the Budget considered that the flood relief effort should reach flood victims rapidly and flood prevention effort should be continuously conducted. Therefore, Bureau of the Budget reported a result of flood victim relief effort by focusing on important flood victims group namely people. The effort aims at relieving natural disaster victims in an emergency case (5,000 Baht per household). In overview, Bureau of the Budget has distributed 13,175.56 million Baht to 2,635,111 households. Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has surveyed and informed Government Savings Bank about 2,080,532 flood-affected households accounting for 10,402.66 million Baht. Currently (March 25, 2012) Government Savings Bank has already distributed 9.830.32 million Baht to 1,966,064 households (increasing from the previous report at 161,969 households).

Title: A proposal on Thai volunteer development

?The cabinet approved Ministry of Social Development and Human Security’sproposal on Thai volunteer development and approved the establishment of Volunteer Management and Training Institute, National Volunteer Center, Provincial Volunteer Center, and Volunteer Fund. Ministry of Social Development and Human Security takes responsible for the establishment by taking into account law, rule, and cabinet resolution. In this regard,Ministry of Social Development and Human Security also took an advice from Office of the National Security Council.

Title: Smog problem in Northern Thailand

? The cabinet acknowledged smog problem in Northern Thailand according to Ministry of Interior’s report, as follows:?

?Ministry of Interior was informed by Secretariat of the Cabinet that the cabinet resolution on February 28, 2012 had assigned Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to address the problem by cooperating with Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Ministry of Public Health, and involved agencies immediately in order to integrate ways to address the smog problem in Northern Thailand. Moreover,Ministry of Interior was informed by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment that the Prime Minister had been concerned about the smog situation and emphasized on all governors to accelerate addressing the problem in their responsible areas. In this regard, the Prime Minister also asked all provincial authorities to report the smog situation to her every day until the serious situation gets better.
