The cabinet meeting on Tuesday, 20 March 2012 has come to the following decision:
1. Reducing Sulfur in Diesel no. 05.01 (1) and (2) from more than and not more than 0.035% Sulfur by weight to more than and not more than 0.005% Sulfur by weight.
2. Extending time for reduction of Diesel fuel excise tax no. 01.05 (2) Diesel with Sulfur not more than 0.035% by weight to not more than 0.005% by weight in a normal rate at 0.005 Baht per Liter, and for (5) Diesel with Methyl Ester in fatty acid not more than 4% in normal rate at 0.005 Baht per Liter. The extension is valid for another one month namely since April 1, 2012 to April 30, 2012.
The cabinet acknowledged Ministry of Industry’s report on an implementation of additional recovery for industrial sector and confidence building among industrial investors. Gist as follows:
1. Recovery of 7 industrial estates and zones
2. Restoration of large factories and SMEs
3. Investment incentive offering for entrepreneurs
4. Recovery of flood-affected industrial sector
5. Progress of dam, industrial zone, industrial district, and industrial park construction (Information on March 15, 2012)
The cabinet approved a proposal from Mr. Akom Tempittayapaisit, Director-General of National Economic and Social Development Board. Gist as follows:
1. Approving 117 plans/projects initiated in 5 Andaman Southern provinces accounting for 84,064 million Baht
2. Approving 23 ready-to-implement projects worth 628 million Baht, assigning responsible agencies to clarify the request for budget distribution of 2555 fiscal year and submitting the request to Bureau of the Budget within two weeks
The cabinet acknowledged in the principle of Ministry of Public Health’s proposal of the extension of time to stay inside the Kingdom of Thailand for 90 days in case of receiving health care services and appointed Deputy Prime Minister (POL.CAPT.Chalerm Yuubumroong) to chair a joint committee between responsible agencies. Therefore, Deputy Prime Minister works on criteria and guidelines for the implementation.
The cabinet approved a resolution from the cabinet’s first screening committee (security and infrastructure affairs) chaired by Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Yongyooth Wichaidit) in a meeting no. 3/2555 at March 9, 2012 to withdraw Special Task Force 980 Thailand/Darfur according to comments from Royal Thai Armed Forces and Ministry of Defense. In this opportunity, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense will discuss with the United Nations about timeframe for withdrawal. However, the withdrawal should be done by May, 2012.
