The cabinet meeting on Sunday, 20 May 2012 has come to the following decision:
The cabinet acknowledged the draft regulation of the Prime Minister’s Office concerning Women Empowerment Fund (no…) B.E…. which is scheduled to be amended according to the Secretariat of the Prime Minister’s proposal.
An amendment of the “Regulation of the Women Empowerment Fund” would be undertaken only at Transitional Provisions section. The amendment aims at enabling the Women Empowerment Fund’s management and projects implementation to be effective and continuous during an absence of the Committee on Women Empowerment Fund, Executive Committee on the Fund, and a director of the Committee on Women Empowerment Fund Office.
The cabinet acknowledged in the principle to set the aforementioned issue as the government’s policy under the authority of the Royal Decree which had been developed from the Revenue Code: section 42 (17). In this regard, the cabinet exempted income tax for political conflict (B.E. 2548-2553) victims who are either individuals or legal personality according to the Secretariat of the Prime Minister’s proposal. In addition, the cabinet appointed Ministry of Finance to take responsible for amending involved law or regulation by covering every political victim from every group in every conflict including the conflict in the three deep South of Thailand. In so doing, fairness and justice are sure to be brought about.
The cabinet acknowledged and approved a proposal from Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board. Gist as follows:
1. Acknowledging a synopsis of the joint meeting between governmental agencies and private sector concerning regional economic crisis no. 4/2555 held on Saturday 19, 2012 at Kanchanaburi
2. Approving the synopsis of the joint meeting between governmental agencies and private sector concerning regional economic crisis no. 4/2555 held at Kanchanaburi and appointing involved sectors to take responsible for implementation process as well as report to Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board for further submission to the cabinet.
The cabinet approved a proposal from the National office of Buddhism to encourage Buddhists to wear white on the occasion of Visakha Puja Day 2555: the celebration for Buddhachayanti 2,6000 anniversary of the Lord Buddha’s enlightenment. The event takes place from May 29 to June 4, 2012. In this regard, it aims at recalling the Lord Buddha and his principles as a guideline for people’s way of lives.
The cabinet acknowledged in the principle of the draft joint declaration for the Prime Minister’s state visit to the Commonwealth of Australia according to a proposal from Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The cabinet also allowed the Prime Minister to take part in the endorsement. Ministry of Foreign Affairs is authorized to amend some parts in the joint declaration which are unimportant and do not affect Thailand’s national interest without submitting to the cabinet once again.
Gist of the joint declaration focuses on the confirmation of a common commitment between the government of Thailand and Australia in upgrading the relationship between the two countries to be strategic partners. Multidimensional cooperation in terms of people, trade, investment, education, disaster management, energy, food security, security, and regional cooperation as well as international cooperation is enhanced.
