The Cabinet Meeting on Tuesday 23 September 2014 at Santimaitri Building Government House has come to the following resolutions

Approval draft Trade of Ivory Acts B.E....and Preservation and Protection of Wide Animal Act as proposed by the Council of State. The draft Trade of Ivory Act… is aimed to control trade and possession of ivory or ivory products in according to CITES. Thailand has to act according to the Convention which requires the member states to issue measures for preventing the trade of ivory and products of ivory which processing from elephant for transportation. The draft Preservation and Protection of Wide Animal Act (issued…) B.E. is to amend the principles concerning the import , export and passing through wild animal including their remains and any products made of the wild animal’s remain. The draft act is also to amend the penalty for the offense in hiding , assisting in trade and in taking away , purchasing and receiving products made of the wide animals’ remain according to the Preservation and Protection of Wild Animal Bill B.E. 2535. The Fee attached at the end of the Preservation and Protection of Wild Animal Bill B.E. 2535 is alto to amend to cover the import, export and passing through the products made of the remains od preserved and protected wild animals.

Approval Joint Statement of the Lao PDR, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore Power integration Project (LTMS PIP) and assignment the Minister of Energy or his representative to acknowledge the draft Statement together with other Energy Ministers of ASEAN. The draft statement illustrates the joint intention to conduct the feasibility study of electricity trade across four countries border. LMTS PIP Working Group will conduct the study of the technical viability of cross border trade from Lao PDR to Singapore through the existing interconnections.

Approval the MOU on ASEAN Co-operation in Agriculture and Forest Products Promotion Scheme and designated Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives or his representative to sign the said document. The main objective of MOU is to strengthen and increase the bargaining power of trade of ASEAN’s agriculture and forest products in world market,facilitating trade which lead to expand the market, developing quality and safety of goods and food and reinforcing the coordinating among member states. The MOU also aims to increase the confidence that there will be raw material for sustainable production. There are 12 product categories under the working plan of the agriculture and forest products promotion . They are included seaweed, coca, coconut, coffee , forest products, palm oil, nut and peanut, pepper, tapioca, tea, tuna, silkworm which views as the economic importance for at least or more two member states.

Approval draft MOU between the Government of ASEAN member countries and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on strengthening sanitary and phytosanitary cooperation. The cabinet also designated the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives or his representative to sign the draft. This MOU is to promote the cooperation on the inspection, quarantine and implementation of sanitary and phytosanitary measures or SPS between ASEAN member countries and the People’s Republic of China.
