The cabinet approved in principle Prime Minister’s Office’s draft Announcement on Notification of Public Assembly, B.E…., and Prime Minister’s Office’s draft Announcement on Crowd Control Equipment, B.E…., as proposed by the Royal Thai Police. The two draft Announcement will be forwarded to the committee on inspection of draft laws and subordinate legislations being proposed to the cabinet before implementation.
Title: Draft Memorandum of Understanding between Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Government of the Republic of Singapore on Participation of the Singapore Armed Forces in Cobra Gold Exercise in the Kingdom of Thailand
The cabinet approved the following proposals made by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon:
1) Approved draft Memorandum of Understanding between Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Government of the Republic of Singapore on Participation of the Singapore Armed Forces in Cobra Gold Exercise in the Kingdom of Thailand to extend its participation in Thailand for another 5 years.
2) Chief of the Defense Forces was assigned as Thai signatory. Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to issue the Full Power for the Chief of the Defense Forces
3) Should there be any amendment in inessential part or part which is not against national interests, Ministry of Defense is to proceed without any further approval from the cabinet.
Title: Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation between Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Government of the Republic of Fiji
The cabinet approved the following proposals made by Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
1) Approved the drafting of Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Cooperation between Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Government of the Republic of Fiji, and assigned Deputy Prime Minister Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn as signatory of the MOU.
2) Should there be any amendment in inessential part or part which is not against national interests, Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to proceed without any further approval from the cabinet.
Gist
The MOU is aimed to promote academic cooperation in various forms, such as exchange of experts/ academicians/ training facilities, as well as study and projects which would promote economic and social development and other forms of mutually agreed assistance.
The MOU is a key mechanism in promoting South-South Cooperation which would strengthen cordial relations of the two countries both at the government and people-to-people levels. It is also a good opportunity for Thailand to enhance its role as the giving country or partner for the development of the Asia-Pacific region, and is a channel for reinforcement of relations between Thailand and countries in the Asia-Pacific.
