The Cabinet met on Tuesday, May 28, 2018, at the Government House. Some of the resolutions are as follows:
The cabinet approved and acknowledged the following:
1. Approved in principle Draft University Civil Service Act (No….) B.E…., as proposed by Ministry of Education, and ordered for it to be forwarded to Office of Council of State before submitting to the National Legislative Assembly for its deliberation.
2. Ministry of Education is to take suggestions of Ministry of Finance, Office of the Pubic Sector Development Commission, the Budget Bureau, and committee for organizational structure and public sector remuneration system into consideration.
3. Acknowledged a plan for drafting of secondary laws, timeframe and gist of the secondary laws under the draft Act, as proposed by Ministry of Education.
The cabinet approved in principle an implementation approach for an additional round of 2017 state welfare registration, as proposed by Ministry of Finance. Those who have been disqualified under the former round cannot register again in this round.
The “Thai Niyom Yangyuen” teams will conduct field visits to compile data of low-income-earners who have not registered during the former round of 2017, especially the disabled persons, elderlies, bedridden patients, and those who were unable to travel to register last year, and inquire about the need for skill trainings and occupational development. Their qualifications will also be screened.
The cabinet approved the following proposals made by Ministry of Tourism and Sports: 1.Approved in principle the draft Ministerial Statement for 10th APEC Tourism Ministers’ Meeting (TMM)
2. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist or not against national interests, Ministry of Tourism and Sports can proceed without having to resubmit to the cabinet for its consideration
3. Approved for Minister of Tourism and Sports or a representative to endorse the draft Ministerial Statement for the 10th APEC Tourism Ministers’ Meeting
Minister of Tourism and Sports reported that the the 10th APEC Tourism Ministers’ Meeting will be held on June 1, 2018 in Port Moresby, the Independent State of Papua New Guinea under the theme “Harnessing Inclusive and Sustainable Tourism in the Digital Age for the Asia-Pacific”. The draft Ministerial Statement will include the folliwng agendas: 1) Lima Declaration, 2) Tourism Working Group (TWG), 3) outcomes of economic stimulus in tourism, 4) Ha Long High-Level Policy Dialogue, 5) tradition and culture, 6) competitiveness enhancement to reduce economic disparity, 7) women’s roles, 8) real-time information, 9) sharing economy, 10) manual on policy and policy development for tourism growth, 11) APEC Leaders' Declaration, 12) APEC Working Group, and 13) promotion of tourism industry.
The cabinet approved a request made by the Government of Republic of Uganda to appoint Mrs. Dorothy Samali Hyuha as new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Uganda to Thailand (residence: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), replacing Miss Nimisha Jayant Madhvani (residence: New Delhi, India). This is as proposed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
