The Cabinet met on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, in Nakhon Sawan province. Some of the resolutions are as follows:
The cabinet approved in principle 4 draft Royal Decrees on Industrial Product Standards, that is,
1) draft royal decrees on inflatable tire standard for automobiles and trailer parts, B.E….;
2) draft royal decrees on inflatable tire standard for commercial automobiles and trailer parts, B.E….;
3) draft royal decrees on inflatable tire standard for motorcycles and mopeds, B.E….; and
4) draft royal decrees on standard of noises, traction on wet surface, and rolling resistance of inflatable tire, B.E…, as proposed by Ministry of Industry. The 4 draft royal decrees are to be forwarded to the Office of Council of State for its deliberation before being proceeded accordingly.
The cabinet made the following approvals:
1. Approved draft National Economic and Social Development Council Act, B.E…., and ordered for it to be forwarded to National Legislative Assembly for its deliberation.
2. Office of National Economic and Social Development Board is to collaborate with other concerned agencies in amending draft ministerial regulation on administrative structure of Office of National Economic and Social Development Board (Office of the Prime Minister), B.E…., to be in line with the draft National Economic and Social Development Council Act, B.E…. before submitting the aforementioned draft ministerial regulation to Office of Council of State for its deliberation.
The draft law stipulates establishment of the National Economic and Social Development Council, comprising a president, and not over 15 honorary members including permanent secretary to Ministry of Finance, secretary-general of National Security Council, secretary-general of Office of Council of State, secretary-general of Office of the Civil Service Commission, secretary-general of Office of the Public Sector Development Commission, director-general of the Budget Bureau, and Bank of Thailand’s governor. Secretary-general of Office of National Economic and Social Development Board will act as member and secretary of the Council.
The National Economic and Social Development Council has a duty to set framework and direction for the nation’s economic and social development, develop draft national economic and social development plan, and provide related suggestions and advices to the Prime Minister and cabinet members.
The cabinet approved for Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to have Office of The Government Pawnshop’s overdraft agreement extended for another 2 years from October 1, 2018- September 30, 2020. Purpose of the extension is for Office of The Government Pawnshop to maintain its revolving fund for the amount of 500 million Baht.
The cabinet approved Thailand’s co-hosting of the 3rd Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) together with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, with Thai, Japanese, and Palestinian Ministers of Foreign Affairs (or representatives) as co-chairs of the meeting. This is as proposed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. CEAPAD will be held on June 27, 2018 in Bangkok.
CEAPAD is an initiative of the Japanese Government in 2013 as a platform for exchange of information, and international collaboration among the East Asian countries and international organizations for Palestinian economic development through promoting private sector’s participation in trade and investment in Palestine, and enhancing Palestine’s capacity in the fields of expertise of CEAPAD member countries that is relevant with Palestinian needs.
