The Cabinet met on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the Government House. Some of the resolutions are as follows:
The cabinet approved the followings:
1. Approved in principle Draft Vocational Education Act (No. …) B.E. …, as proposed by Ministry of Education, and ordered for it to be forwarded to Office of Council of State for deliberation before submitting to the National Legislative Assembly.
2. Acknowledged plan for the formulation of secondary laws, timeframe, and framework of the secondary laws under the Draft Vocational Education Act (No. …) B.E. …
3. Ministry of Education is to take suggestions of Office of the Civil Service Commission, Office of the Public Sector Development Commission, and NESDB into consideration.
4. Draft Vocational Education Act (No. …) B.E. … stipulates vocational education curriculum according to the prescription set by Vocational Education Commission, that is, 1) pre-vocational certification, 2) vocational certification, 3) high vocational certification, 4) Bachelor of Technology.
The cabinet approved the following proposals made by Ministry of Education:
1. Approved drafting and signing of MOU between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization on the Establishment of the SEAMEO Regional Centre for STEM Education (SEAMEO STEM - ED) in Thailand. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist, Ministry of Education is to collaborate with Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs) to make decision without having to resubmit to the cabinet for consideration.
2. Approved Minister of Education or a representative as signatory of the MOU. Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to issue the Full Powers to the signatory.
Objective for the establishment of the SEAMEO Regional Centre for STEM Education (SEAMEO STEM - ED) in Thailand is to enhance capacity and disseminate knowledge on STEM education at the regional level among SEAMEO member countries. This is in line with the Government’s policy on promotion of STEM education. Establishment of SEAMEO STEM – ED in Thailand will also help promote the country to become future educational hub of the region.
The cabinet approved educational management of Switzerland’s Asian Institute of Hospitality Management, in Academic Association With Les Roches in Thailand, as proposed by Ministry of Education, in the Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Hospitality Management. Asian Institute of Hospitality Management, in Academic Association With Les Roches will have 2 campuses, Bangkok and Chonburi, to accommodate the country’s hospitality industry which is one of the 10 S-Curve industries for the development of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
The cabinet approved the following proposals made by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment:
1. Approved 4 draft outcome documents and other related documents of Special ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Marine Debris:
1) Bangkok Declaration on Combating Marine Debris in ASEAN Region,
2) ASEAN Framework of Action on Marine Debris,
3) joint Media Statement, and
4) Chair’s Summary.
2. Approved for Minister of Natural Resources and Environment or a representative to endorse the draft outcome documents and other related documents.
3. Approved for the Prime Minister or a representative to endorse “Bangkok Declaration on Combating Marine Debris in ASEAN Region” at the 34th ASEAN Summit
4. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist or against national interest, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is to proceed without having to resubmit to the cabinet for its consideration.
