The cabinet met on June 11, 2019 at the Government House. Some of the resolutions are as follows:

Title: Draft Royal Decree issued under the Revenue Code on Tax Exemption (No. …), B.E. … (Tax measure to promote sports activities)

The cabinet approved in principle the draft Royal Decree issued under the Revenue Code on Tax Exemption (No. …), B.E. … (Tax measure to promote sports activities), as proposed by Ministry of Finance.

Gist

The draft Royal Decree issued under the Revenue Code on Tax Exemption (No. …), B.E. … (Tax measure to promote sports activities) stipulates extension of tax privileges for donors of Sports Authority of Thailand, provincial sports commissions, provincial sports associations, sports association of which the name contain “of Thailand”, Department of Physical Education, and national sports development funds established under the National Sports Act. Extension of income tax exemption is made for another year from January 1, 2019- December 31, 2019 to continually attract support from private sector on sports activities.

The cabinet approved in principle the draft Royal Decree issued under the Revenue Code on Tax Exemption (No. …), B.E. … (Exemption of corporate income tax to foreign companies or corporate partnership for interests of Bank of Thailand bonds and interests of Financial Institutions Development Fund Bond), as proposed by Ministry of Finance.

Gist

The draft Royal Decree stipulates exemption of corporate income tax to companies or corporate partnership, registered and operated in foreign countries, for interests of Bank of Thailand bonds and interests of Financial Institutions Development Fund Bond).

Title: Compilation of Tipitaka (English Version)

The cabinet approved the following proposals made by Ministry of Culture: Approved in principle a Government project on Compilation of Tipitaka (English Version), a collaboration between Ministry of Culture, Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, and Office of National BuddhismThe Budget Bureau is assigned to consider appropriate allocation of the 2020-2021 budget for the project. Department of Religious Affairs is to make adjustment to its plan for budget expenditure to accommodate expenses of the project on compilation of Tipitaka (English Version) incurred during FY2019.Gist

The Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand approved compilation of Tipitaka (English Version) to glorify His Majesty King Rama X’s royal honor on occasion of the Royal Coronation. Responsible agencies for the project are: Department of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, and Office of National Buddhism. The project is also aimed at disseminating Buddhism in Thailand and the global community.

Title: Thailand’s membership in The Asia Protected Areas Partnership (APAP)

The cabinet approved for Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, through Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, to become a member of the Asia Protected Areas Partnership (APAP), as proposed by the Ministry.

Gist

The Asia Protected Areas Partnership (APAP) has been designed as a key platform to help governments and other stakeholders collaborate for more effective management of protected areas (national parks, etc.) in the Asian region. Becoming a member of APAP would, among others, promote Thailand’s positive image on natural conservation at the international level, and boost the country’s opportunity in exchanging experiences, gaining knowledge, and creating international allies and network on management of protected areas.

Title: 4th ACMECS Tourism Ministerial Meeting and Draft Joint Statement of the 4th ACMECS Tourism Ministerial Meeting

The cabinet approved the Draft Joint Statement of the 4th ACMECS Tourism Ministerial Meeting. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interests, Ministry of Tourism and Sports is ordered to proceed without having to resubmit to the cabinet for consideration. Permanent Secretary to Ministry of Tourism and Sports (Mr. Chote Trachu), who was assigned by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak (in his capacity as acting Minister of Tourism and Sports), will adopt the Draft Joint Statement without signing during the 4th ACMECS Tourism Ministerial Meeting held in Chiang Rai on June 13, 2019.

Gist

The Draft Joint Statement of the 4th ACMECS Tourism Ministerial Meeting prescribes acknowledgements and implementations under ACMECS tourism cooperation plan (2019-2023), e.g., a 9.36% increase of tourists to ACMECS countries in 2018, tourism cooperation direction under the concept “Five countries, One Destination”, etc.

Title: Adoption of Singapore Statement of the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministers on Co-creating a Connected Digital Future in the Asia-Pacific

The cabinet approved the final version of Singapore Statement of the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministers on Co-creating a Connected Digital Future in the Asia-Pacific. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interests, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is ordered to proceed without having to resubmit to the cabinet for consideration.

Gist

Singapore Statement of the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministers on Co-creating a Connected Digital Future in the Asia-Pacific will be adopted at the 2019 Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting to be held during June 25-26, 2019 in Singapore. The Statement stipulates the following 5 cooperation priorities: 1) Digital Transformation, 2) Digital Innovation and Creativity, 3) Digital Community, 4) Digital Trust, and 5) Digital Skills and Partnerships.
