The cabinet met on September 17, 2019 at the Government House. Some of the resolutions are as follows:
The cabinet approved extension of subsidy provided to Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention for the total amount of 10,000 Swiss franc (approx. 318,240 Baht) for another 4 years starting fiscal year 2020. Budget will be allocated under the annual budget of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is to continue Thailand’s intent as member state of Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention to promote implementations and cooperation under the Convention.
The cabinet approved draft Political Declaration of the High – Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage, and authorized head of the Thai delegation for UNGA74 or a representative to adopt the draft Political Declaration. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interests, Ministry of Public Health, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are to consider and proceed without having to resubmit the the cabinet. This is as proposed by Ministry of Public Health.
President of the UNGA74 will host High – Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage on September 23, 2019 during the Seventy – Fourth Session of the United Nations General Assembly where the Political Declaration of the High – Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage will be adopted to underscore the importance of UHC, and affirm political intent to achieve’s world’s UHC as part of the UN- Sustainable Development Goals within 2030.
The cabinet approved Thailand’s draft position paper for the 74th Session of the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA74). Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interests, Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to consider and proceed without having to resubmit the the cabinet. This is as proposed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Thailand’s position paper for the 74th Session of the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA74) is drafted in line with national interests, and is aimed for the global community to be aware of Thailand’s role as UN’s good member, especially the country’s constructive and active role in mobilizing UN-SDGs, and introducing the royal Suffiiency Economy Philosophy to achieve SDGs.
Thailand’s position paper for the 74th Session of the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA74) covers 9 categories under the framework of UNGA74 agendas: 1) Category A: Economic growth and sustainable development, 2) Category B: Peacekeeping and international security, 3) Category C: African development, 4) Category D: Human rights, 5) Category E: Humanitarian assistance, 6) Category F: Justice and international laws, 7) Category G: Reduction of weapon supply; 8) Category H: Narcotics control, crime prevention, and anti-cross border terrorism of all forms, and 9) Category I: Others.
The cabinet approved draft Political Declaration of the SDG Summit to be adopted on September 24, 2019. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interests, Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations is to consider and proceed without having to resubmit the the cabinet. The cabinet also authorized head of the Thai delegation to adopt the draft Political Declaration of the SDG Summit. This is as proposed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The draft Political Declaration of the SDG Summit demonstrates political intent to achieve SDGs, especially promotion of inclusive and sustainable society to ensure equality, and immunity against climate change.
The cabinet approved drafting and signing of an Agreement between Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on Administration, Maintenance, and Utilization of the second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge cross the Mei River / Tong Yin, and authorized Minister of Transport or a representative as signatory of the Thai side. Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to issue the Full Powers to Minister of Transport or a representative. This is as proposed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
