The cabinet met on November 12, 2019 at Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University, Kanchanaburi. Some of the resolutions are as follows:
Title: Campaign to promote OTOP products from Royal Project Foundation and The Foundation For the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother (SUPPORT) as gifts for special occasions
The cabinet approved the proposal made by Ministry of Interior to implement a campaign to promote OTOP products from Royal Project Foundation and The Foundation For the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother (SUPPORT) as gifts for special occasions, such as New Year gifts for 2020. This is in order to expand market channels, and increase revenues of local craftpeople, as well as to share happiness during the festive season of 2020.
According to Ministry of Interior, Department of Community Development has registered 87,468 OTOP entrepreneurs who produce the total of 185,963 OTOP products across the country (as of October 1, 2019). The festive season is a period in which people share happiness and well wishes by giving gifts. Therefore, giving OTOP products as New Year gifts would help spread revenues and stimulate the country’s grassroots economy.
The cabinet acknowledged guidelines on empowering of village, temple and school cooperation for security, prosperity, and sustainability of communities under Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, as proposed by Ministry of Culture.
Ministry of Culture has selected 4 provinces, namely, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Pathom, and Kanchanaburi, as pilot provinces for the implementations according to the Prime Minister’s order on Empowering of Village, Temple and School Cooperation for Security, Prosperity, and Sustainability of Communities under Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. The goals are to enjoin all ministries and agencies to adopt the principle of “Village, Temple and School Cooperation” in mobilizing various activities in the communities, spreading facts and accurate information related to the Government’s policies to the people, and encouraging community people to uphold religious principles and dharmas, and adopt the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in enhancing their quality of life. ? The cabinet approved for Ministry of Defense to draft an MOU between Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Thailand and Ministry of Defense of People’s Republic of China on national defense cooperation, and assigned Deputy Prime Minister or Defense Minister or a representative as signatory of the MOU. Should there be an amendment in parts that do not affect gist of the MOU, Ministry of Defense is authorized to proceed as appropriate. This is as proposed by Ministry of Defense.
The MOU between Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Thailand and Ministry of Defense of People’s Republic of China on national defense cooperation will be a framework for bilateral cooperation on national defense on the basis of equality, mutual interests, and full respect on each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Signing of the MOU will take place during the 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting - Plus (MDMM – Plus) which will be held on November 16-19, 2019 in Bangkok.
The cabinet approved the Draft 2020 Joint Vision Statement for the Thai-U.S. Defense Alliance, and assigned Deputy Prime Minister or Defense Minister or a representative as signatory of the Joint Vision Statement. Should there be an amendment in parts that do not affect gist of the document, Ministry of Defense is authorized to proceed as appropriate. This is as proposed by Ministry of Defense.
The Draft 2020 Joint Vision Statement for the Thai-U.S. Defense Alliance stipulates cooperation of the two countries to work together with the alliances and other partner countries in addressing complex security issues in the Indo-Pacific. Signing of the 2020 Joint Vision Statement for the Thai-U.S. Defense Alliance will take place during the 6th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting - Plus (MDMM – Plus) which will be held on November 16-19, 2019 in Bangkok.
The cabinet approved 2 documents related to the project on Promotion of Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains in ASEAN: 1) Exchange of Notes between ASEAN Secretariat and Federal Republic of Germany, and 2) the Implementation Agreement. Secretary-General of ASEAN is authorized to sign the Exchange of Notes, and Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN will sign the Implementation Agreement of the aforementioned project. Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to notify ASEAN Secretariat on the cabinet’s approval. This is as proposed by Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives
Promotion of Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains in ASEAN Project is aimed to develop important factors for quality and sustainability of the Agricultural Value Chains in ASEAN. Deutsche Gesellschaft f?r Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) will provide data and knowledge, and project administration, as well as organize capacity enhancement activities (such as seminars, workshops, etc.) under the financial support (provided by the Government of German) of 3 million Euro (approx. 100 million Baht). The Project has earlier been approved by ASEAN Sectoral Working Group on Crops (ASWGC) and Senior Officials’ Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (SOM – AMAF).
