The cabinet met on January 28, 2020 at the Government House. Some of the resolutions are as follows:
The cabinet acknowledged the Anti-Corruption Operation Center’s performance report on corruption and misconduct of public officials, as proposed by Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), and:
1. Assigned PACC as liaison office for filing complaints or reasonable doubts on corruption/misconduct of public officials received through Anti-Corruption Operation Center of each public agency (government agencies, state enterprises, public organizations).
2. Assigned PAAC to monitor, expedite, and follow up on action taking of public sector chiefs against complaints or reasonable doubts on corruption/misconduct of public officials.
PAAC was also ordered to take into consideration opinions of Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Office of Permanent Secretary to Prime Minister’s Office, and the Budget Bureau.
The cabinet approved in principle an adjustment of welfare allowance for disabilities from 800 Baht/person/month to 1,000 Baht/person/month, initially for disabilities ID card holders who have registered and were approved for state welfares. The increase will take effect from October 1, 2020 onward.
As of December 2, 2019, the number of disabilities ID card holders who have registered and were approved for state welfares accounts for 2.02 million people. Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, through the Department of Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities in collaboration with NIDA, has conducted a study and developed an approach on disabilities welfare. According to the study, an increase of welfare allowance for disabilities from 800 Baht/person/month to 1,000 Baht/person/month will be in line with the current cost of living, and will not be too much of a fiscal burden to the Government. Request for allocation of additional annual budget for the increase of welfare allowance for disabilities will amount to 4,852.90 million Baht.
The cabinet approved Thailand’s candidature for a seat on Council of Administration (CA), and Postal Operations Council (POC) at the 27th Universal Postal Union (UPU), and assigned Ministry of Foreign Affairs to launch a campaign to seek support and vote from UPU member countries. This is as proposed by Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.
The Universal Postal Union is held once every 4 years to deliberate and amend related protocols, and elect CA and POC members. The 27th Universal Postal Union (UPU) will be held during August 10-28, 2020 in Abidjan , C?te d'Ivoire. CA and POC membership will enhance the development and efficiency of Thailand Post to be on par with the international standard, and to underscore Thailand’s role at the international stage.
The cabinet acknowledged the renaming of Kazakhstan’s Capital from Astana to Nur-Sultan, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ undertaking in changing the Royal Embassy of Thailand accordingly, from Royal Embassy of Thailand in Astana to the “Royal Embassy of Thailand in Nur-Sultan”. This is as proposed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Kazakhstan’s Capital will be renamed after its first President “Nursultan Nazarbayev”. This will take effect from March 23, 2020 onward.
