The cabinet met on August 18, 2020 at the Government House. Some of the resolutions are as follows:
The cabinet approved the draft Trade Association Act (No. …) B.E. …, as proposed by Ministry of Commerce, and ordered for it to be proposed to the House of Representatives.
The draft Trade Association Act (No. …) B.E. …, is an amendment to the Trade Association Act (No. …) B.E. 2509 on the naming of trade associations. The draft Act prescribes trade associations, established under the draft Act, to be named “Trade Association of …” in order to differentiate them from associations established under other laws.
Amendment has also been made: 1) to revise authority of concerned minister, and registrar on termination of trade associations in a bid to streamline termination process, and 2) to revise related fees in relevance with the current economic situation.
The cabinet approved in principle the draft Royal Decree on land readjustment in Chum Chang and Na Nang sub-districts, Pone Pisai district, Nongkhai province, B.E. …, as proposed by Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives
The draft Royal Decree on land readjustment in Chum Chang and Na Nang sub-districts, Pone Pisai district, Nongkhai province, B.E. … prescribes scope of land to be readjusted in Phitsanulok’s Tho Thae sub-district for agricultural purpose. Readjusted land will be benefited from the irrigation system and have access to public utilities, thereby, promoting the country’s agriculture, and increase of farmers’ revenues.
The cabinet acknowledged the progress report submitted by Ministry of Industry on cooperation between public and private sector to promote S-Curve industries from 2016-present (5 years).
1. Empowering potential SMEs entrepreneurs by applying innovative technologies in the production system to meet market demand and to reduce importation
2. Collaborating with the private sector to promote S-Curve industry through providing grant in aid to SMES and Startups in various fields, and developing knowledge in business management
3. Expanding cooperation with the private sector to provide support to wider range of the S-Curve industries
The cabinet approved in principle budget framework for the 5-year action plan (No. 1- 2021-2025) of SEAMEO Regional Centre for Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainability (SEAMEO-SEPS) for the total amount of 127,603,113 Baht. This is as proposed by Ministry of Education.
Gist of the 5-year action plan (No. 1- 2021-2025) of SEAMEO Regional Centre for Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainability (SEAMEO-SEPS) is as follows:
Vision: A regional excellence center that promotes and disseminates Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for sustainability
1) To raise awareness on the importance of the sufficiency economy philosophy for sustainability in different contexts, both social, cultural, lifestyle, and economic system of each area and region.
2) To provide advices and suggest development guidelines regarding sufficiency economy philosophy for sustainability, i.e., knowledge, technology, and skills.
3) To encourage diverse cooperation among member countries in educational and social context
4) To strengthen cooperation between various people-to-people network partners in transferring knowledge and promoting sustainable development according to sufficiency economy philosophy.
The cabinet approved the Draft Vientian Declaration of the Third Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Leaders’ Meeting, and Joint Statement on Cooperation of Synerging the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interests, Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to proceed without having to resubmit to the cabinet. The Prime Minister or a representative is authorized to adopt the two documents. This is as proposed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Draft Vientian Declaration demonstrates joint intent of MLC member countries to promote multilateral system in addressing challenges, creating an environment conducive to peace, stability and inclusion, and promoting cooperation based on the principle of consensus, equality, voluntary, and peaceful coexistence. The Declaration also emphasized joint intent to reinforce cooperation in upgrading cooperation partnership under the MLC mechanism in politics and security, economy and sustainable development, and social and cultural exchange.
The Joint Statement on Cooperation of Synerging the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor demonstrates joint intent of MLC member countries to promote cooperation under the framework of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
The cabinet approved an appointment of Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri as new Government Spokesperson. The appointment will take effect from August 18, 2020 onward. This is as proposed by Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretary General.
