The cabinet met on January 24, 2022 via a video conference. Some of the resolutions are as follows:

Title: Request for approval on extension of enforcement of the 6th National Sports Development Plan (2017-2021)

The cabinet approved the following proposals made by National Sports Policy Commission:

1.Approved one-year extension of enforcement of the 6th National Sports Development Plan (2017-2021) to end on September 30, 2022.

2.National Sports Policy Commission is ordered to include guidelines of the Trim And Fitness International Sports For All Association as part of the 6th National Sports Development Plan (2017-2021) in a bid to promote Thailand?s sports for all in the same direction, thereby, reducing budget redundancy, and to optimize knowledge received from and cooperation with other member countries.

Gist

Targets of the 6th National Sports Development Plan (2017-2021) are: 1) people of all sectors become interested in exercising and playing sports; 2) Thai athletes become successful at regional, continental, and global events, bringing pride and solidarity to the Thai people; and 3) Sustainable growth of Thai sports industry which adds value to the national economy.

Title: Addition of controlled goods under the Price of Goods and Services Act, B.E. 2542

The cabinet approved additional of 5 controlled goods for the year 2022 under the Price of Goods and Services Act, B.E. 2542: 1) hygienic mask; 2) Polypropylene (Spunbond) for hygienic mask manufacturing; 3) alcohol-based products for hand hygiene; 4) scrap paper/recycled paper; and 5) chicken and chicken meat. This is as proposed by Ministry of Commerce to ensure product sufficiency at appropriate and fair prices for consumers.

Title: Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Southeast Asia Nations and the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development

The cabinet approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Southeast Asia Nations and the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interest, Ministry of Commerce may proceed without having to resubmit to the cabinet. ASEAN Secretary-General is authorized as signatory of the MOU. This is as proposed by Ministry of Commerce.

Gist

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Southeast Asia Nations and the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development is aimed to promote cooperation between ASEAN and OECD in 36 fields of mutual interest, namely, 1) response to COVID-19; 2) taxation; 3) public sector?s financial management; 4) good regulatory practices; 5) trade facilitation; 6 investment; 7) corporate responsibility; 8) trade and services; 9 global value chain; 10) competition and consumer protection; 11) SMEs; 12) transition to digital and IR4; 13) innovation; 14) productivity; 15) sustainable agriculture; 16) financial integration; 17) good corporate governance; 18) transport; 19) statistics; 20) tourism; 21) well-being measurement and policy; 22) reduction of ASEAN?s development gap; 23) smart city; 24) sustainable infrastructure; 25) education; 26) skill development; 27) employment and labor movement; 28) environment; 29) environment in all sectors; 30) funding for disaster management and mitigation; 31) public health; 32) green growth; 33) gender; 34) good governance; 35) social protection; and 36) others.

The MOU will take effect for 5 years from the date of signing, and is subject to extension upon a written agreement between both parties.

Title: Drafting and signing of Addendum No. 1 of Grant Contract between ASEAN and EU on ASEAN Secretariat?s capacity building activities under ARISE Plus project

The cabinet approved the Addendum No. 1 of Grant Contract between ASEAN and EU on ASEAN Secretariat?s capacity building activities under ARISE Plus project. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interest, Ministry of Foreign Affairs may proceed without having to resubmit to the cabinet. ASEAN Secretary-General is authorized as signatory of the Addendum No. 1. This is as proposed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Gist

ASEAN Secretariat?s capacity building is one of the five key components of ARISE Plus project, which also include ASEAN Customs and Transport Facilitation and expert provision. Addendum No. 1 precribes activities other than those stated in the Grant Contract.
