The cabinet met on July 26, 2022. Some of the resolutions are as follows:
The cabinet approved in principle the draft Royal Decree on reduction of annual tax for electric vehicles (EVs) under Vehicle Law, B.E. ?, as proposed by Ministry of Transport, and ordered for the draft Royal Decree to be forwarded to the Office of Council of State for its deliberation.
The draft Royal Decree on reduction of annual tax for electric vehicles (EVs) under Vehicle Law, B.E. ? prescribes reduction of the annual vehicle taxation for fully-built EVs by 80% of the rate specified under (11) of the annual tax rate annexed to the Vehicle Act, B.E. 2522, for a period of one year from the date of registration. Eligible EVs must be those registered during October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2025.
The cabinet approved the draft Action Plan on artificial intelligence for the development of Thailand, B.E. 2565-2570, and assigned concerned agencies to proceed accordingly. This is as proposed by Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
The draft Action Plan on artificial intelligence for the development of Thailand, B.E. 2565-2570 is aimed to prepare the country for the development and application of artificial intelligence technology. The draft Action Plan will also be a framework for government agencies, private and education sectors to develop and implement corresponding plans.
The draft Action Plan comprises 5 strategies, namely, 1) preparing the country for the application of AI in socio-ethical, and law and regulation aspects; 2) developing infrastructure and related AI supporting system for sustainable development; 3) building capacity of personnel and AI education; 4) developing AI-supported technologies and innovation; and 5) promoting application of AI technologies and system in the public and private sectors.
The cabinet approved extension of the Emergency Decree nationwide for another 2 months during August 1- September 31, 2022, as proposed by the National Security Council.
The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration, in its meeting on July 8, 2022, agreed on the resolution to extend the Emergency Decree nationwide for another 2 months since the COVID-19 situation in Thailand remains widely spread, especially the transmission of COVID-19 new variants. Extension of the Emergency Decree nationwide will also help concerned authorities to strictly and efficiently control the spread of the disease. This is the 19th extension of the Emergency Decree nationwide as a result of the COVID-19 situation.
The cabinet approved 11 outcome documents of the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers? Meeting. Should there be an amendment in parts that are not gist nor against national interest, Ministry of Foreign Affairs may proceed without having to resubmit to the cabinet. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs or a representative is authorized to adopt these outcome documents.
