The cabinet meeting on Tuesday 24, June 2008 has come to the following decision;
Establishment of high commissioner joint committee for cooperation between Thailand and BahrainThe cabinet approved the following two Minister of Foreign Affairs proposals:
1. Approved the Minister of Foreign Affairs as lead representative of Thailand in attending the meeting of the high commissioner joint committee for cooperation between Thailand and Bahrain
2. Approved in principle of the responsibility and authority of the Thai committee as mentioned above by assigning the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can change the substance of the meeting if it necessaryThe permanent secretariat of the Ministry of Energy or his representative will be added to be commissioner as part of the high commission mentioned above and to change the position of the commissioner on Subject 18 from the President of PTT exploration and Production Public Company Limited or his representative to be a Chief Executive Officer of PTT exploration and Production Public Company Limited or his representative, and the cabinet asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take observations of the Ministry of Finance for consideration
Trade discussions between Thailand and the United States of America
The cabinet acknowledged the Ministry of Commerce report on trade discussions between Thailand and the United Stages of America as follows:
The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and his delegation attended the meeting of trade discussions with Ms. Barbara Weisel, Assistant USTR for Southeast Asia and the Pacific in trade relations from June 12-13, 2008 in Washington D.C
The two parties discussed cooperation, tissues, and concern related to trade. Both parties agreed that after negotiations the framework of the trade agreement between Thailand and the United States of America had to stop in the year 2006 and the two countries didn’t have a platform to share information or view related trade ideas. Both have agreed to set up an unofficial mechanism in the high commission to have regular discussions related to trade including issues, concerns, and trade cooperation which will lead to a strengthening of trade related issues. Other departments are welcome to join the discussions if it is related to them
