The cabinet meeting on 28 January 2009 has come to the solutions as follow;
Approval in the principle on draft Act on Safety and Security at Suvarnabhuml International Airport as proposed by Ministry of Transport. The draft Act will be submitted to the Office of State for further scrutinizing. The airport blockage at Suvarnabhuml International Airport and Don Muang Airport between 26 November 2008 and 5 December 2008 caused the damage in term of economic system and country image. The objective of draft Act is therefore to empower the airport autority and security staff to be able to control and siege the culprits or people who do wrong under the Criminal Law. The aviation security measures are divided into two phrases; The immediate measures is to set up the Checkpoints to inspect and prevent the people unconcerned away from any routes to the airport. And, the measures in long term is to set up the permanent Checkpoints to monitor and inspect people before accessing the airport area. The long-term measures are also included planning and conducting the rehearsal of the airport’s emergency plan.
Acknowledgment the Ministry of Commerce’s report on the Consumer Price Index of December 2008and 2008. According to the Ministry, the survey of 374 prices calculated from present prices of goods and service nationwide which covered various sectors ; beverage, clothes , housing, medical service, communication and transportation, entertainment. Consumer Price Index of December 2008 when compared to those of
- November 2008 was decreased by 1.6
- December 2007was increased by 0.4
- Averaged of the year of 2009 was increased 5.5
Approval of the resolution of Energy Policy Committee as proposed by the Ministry of Energy. The cabinet agreed on Framework on Alternative Energy Development Plan in 15 year (2009-2022) and appointment the Working Group to conduct the Operation plan. In this regard, the increasing price of NGV and LPG was postponed due to the low cost of oil price and downturn of country’s economic.
Approval of 607,583,820.21 baht to buy back the farmers’ debt in order to keep their land and living places. as proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Approval in the principle of 9 projects of the Administrative Center of Southern Border Provinces. 9 projects are below in details
1. Administrative Center of Southern Border Provinces’ Learning Class
2. Foster Family for Children and Youth in Southern Border provinces’special economic zone
3. Happy School with Srinagarindra the Princess Mother School Yala
4. Education Cooperation for Youth in Southern Border provinces’ special economic zone
5. Islamic Teachers Development Program
6. Program to promote the graduate students from vocational school to further training in Japan
7. Scholarship and educational equipment supporting program
8. Supporting Good man in Southern Border provinces to attend Haj
9. Hala Industry Development program
Acknowledgment the resolution of 12th meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers to promote the intra ASEAN Travel and Tourism as proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport. The ASEAN Tourism will be one of the significant agenda on the 14th ASEAN Summit hosted by Thailand. ASEAN member countries would join their effort to promote the sub-regional tourism industry with the following activities;
1. Conduct the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2011-2015
2. Promote the tourism along the ASEAN Tourism Connectivity Corridors
3. Support youth to travel as the Youth Travellers’ Years 2009-2010 with ASEAN Tourism Youth Ambassadors during 15-24 January 2009 and ASEAN Youth Football Cup in June 2009
4. Create the ASEAN Tourism Incentives
