- Utsukushii Kurashi no Zakka Bazaar -
"Utsukushii Kurashi no Zakka Bazaar", a textiles and handicrafts fair was held for 7 days from July 20(Wed.) to 26(Tue.) 2011 at the event space on the 10 th floor of Hankyu Umeda Department Store in Osaka. "Utsukushii Kurashi no Zakka" means "Goods for Beautiful Life" in Japanese. There were 23 companies including 3 Thai products importers participated in this fair and we could see products from both Japan and Asian countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Tibet, Uzbekistan and Thailand. Ms. Setsuko Sasaki of Wakaba House, one of the importers of Thai products commented that it was the 2nd time following the first in 2010, their products were not inexpensive but sold well because Japanese consumers attracted by their quality and beautiful handwork.
Hankyu Umeda Department Store is ranked among the Japan's top 3 by sales and the number-one department store in the Kansai area. So this fair is not a "Thailand fair" but TTC Osaka expects that it's a good opportunity for Thai products to appeal its quality to Japanese high-end consumers, and that lead to increase Thai products import as well.
