-"Age-Free Life, Hoshi-ga-oka" by Panasonic Co.,Ltd. (Hirakata-city/Osaka)
Mr. Yamada, CEO of JTIRO reported that JTIRO's blog is quite popular among Japanese seniors and hospital workers. This summer, he received an inquiry from a hospital in Chiba (one of the readers of JTIRO's blog) and helped them in coordinating medical long stay in Thailand for Japanese senior who have intractable disease.
Mr. Yamada said that the number of senior people aged 65 or over in Japan is about 30 million and assets held by them amounts to 1400 trillion yen. In Japan, the labor force is shrinking because of the falling birthrate and the aging population is gaining; there will be strong demands among Japanese rich seniors for medical/nursing long stay in Thailand. He emphasized that different approach to tourists is necessary for long stay business, and asked for help from Thai government in building a system between Japan side and Thai side.
Ms. Siripan, Executive Director of TTC Osaka exchanged information on social welfare system for ageing population with Mr. Yamada, JTIRO and requested Mr. Yamada to introduce someone who can exchange information (in English or Thai) with Thai businessman who is going to establish long stay facility in Bangkok. Thai side expected to know what is needed for long stay facilities for Japanese elderly.
Mr. Yamada answered that former chairman of Japanese Association in Thailand is a right person for this matter. He said he will send email to the said person to ask for corporation and inform TTC at a later date.
