Holidays to be observed in Central Government Omces during the year 2011. It has been decided that the holidays as specified below will be observed in all the Administrative Offices of the Central Government during the year 2011. Following holidays compulsorily in addition to three holidays.

Sunday 20 Feb Milad un Nabi (Shia) Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad

Saturday 16 Apr MAHAVIR JAYANTI

Friday 22 Apr GOOD FRIDAY

Tuesday 17 May BUDHA PURNIMA

Saturday 13 Aug RAKSHA BANDHAN

Monday 15 Aug INDEPENDENCE DAY

Tuesday 30 Aug IDU’L FITR (end of Ramadan)

          Sunday        2  Oct  MAHATMA GANDHI’S BIRTHDAY

Thursday 6 Oct DUSSEHRA (WAY DASHMI)

Wednesday 26 Oct DIWALI (DEEPAVALI)

          Sunday        6  Nov  Idu’l Zuha/Bakrid

Sunday 10 Nov GURU NANAK’S BIRTHDAY

          Monday        5  Dec  Al-Hijra / Muharram

Sunday 25 Dec CHRISTMAS DAY

Addition to the above 14 Compulsory holidays for the year 2011 as mentioned above, three holidays shall be decided from the list indicated below by the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee in the State Capitals.
