A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed in the 751D-PARK Art District, host of this year's Beijing Design Week, between Jacob Jensen Design, the internationally acclaimed Danish design consultancy, and China Zhonghua Geotechnical Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CGE). Both companies have concluded their shared intentions to reach a cooperation in months to come within a wide range of areas, including urban space design and planning, industrial design, art and education. Both parties seek to strengthen China's design innovation and creative urban planning sectors while cultivating the nation's talent and thus contributing towards better lives. The ceremony was witnessed by His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark. Mr. Liang Fuhua, CEO of CGE Group, Mr. Timothy Jacob Jensen, CEO and Chief Designer of Jacob Jensen Design, and Mr. Zhan Qing, District Mayor of the People's Government of Qingyang District in Chengdu.
"Our vision is to improve people's lives through design," says CEO Timothy Jacob Jensen. This is a deeply rooted value to which the design firm has stuck to throughout its history. By merging the international and MAYA design styles, Jacob Jensen Design helped create a new unique, ultramodern design language that has been winning over consumers for over half a century. The relevance of the classic Danish design agency and it's presence in the country since 2011 matches CGE's plans to expand its international design and planning capabilities.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Liang Fuhua, CEO of CGE, said: "CGE has long been a pioneer and trend setter in China's urban public space design, and regional development projects. A strategic cooperation with Jacob Jensen Design will bring the successful experience and expertise of both parties together, in order to build a world-leading service provider of public space, industrial and visual design."
Jacob Jensen Design was first established in Denmark in 1958. With its characteristic minimalist design and a proven track record of attracting global appeal, Jacob Jensen Design has grown to be Scandinavia's most award-winning design consultancies. Its founder, Mr. Jacob Jensen, was the first person in Danish history to receive systemic industrial design education. He is considered one of the great "golden age designers" and a driver of "Danish Modernism". Perhaps the most recognizable case of Jacob Jensen Design is its successful collaboration with Bang & Olufsen. For a period of 27 years, the firm successfully designed and brought more than 240 products to market for Bang & Olufsen, creating a design language that supported their transformation from a local Danish manufacturer into an iconic global brand. Today, Jacob Jensen Design is led by the founder's son, Mr. Timothy Jacob Jensen who, like his father, has garnered a long list of accomplishments during his career, such as leading the German high-end kitchen appliance brand, Gaggenau, as chief designer from 1991 to 1998.

During the same event a tripartite framework agreement was signed between the Qingyang District Government of Chengdu, CGE and JJD. In the near future, the three parties intend to combine their resources to build a China Design Center in Chengdu.
