FM Kasit receives Norwegian Ambassador

On 21 October 2010, Mrs. Katja Christina Nordgaard, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on the occasion of taking up her appointment to Thailand at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Minister Kasit congratulated and welcomed the Ambassador to Thailand, and stated that Thailand wishes to strengthen relations with Norway both in bilateral and multilateral levels. In this connection, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on various issues. One important matter raised was the environmental issue that Norway is a prime mover in providing technical assistance and technology transfer in terms of environmental conservation and renewable energy to other countries. Furthermore, they also agreed that both can seek joint efforts in the form of trilateral cooperation on humanitarian assistance to the disaster-affected countries.

In this regard, the Ambassador also expressed her appreciation for Thailand’s contribution in sending the special forces to join the mission of the United Nations peacekeeping operations in Darfur, Sudan, and also of the international naval force combating piracy and armed robbery off the coast of Somalia.
