United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s visit to Thailand

On 26 October 2010, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mrs. Jintana Piromya, spouse of the Foreign Minister, as the representative of the Royal Thai Government, greeted Mr. Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary-General and Mrs. Ban Soon-taek at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

After the bilateral meeting between the Thai Prime Minister and UN Secretary-General at the Government House, the Thai Prime Minister hosted the luncheon in honour of the UN Secretary-General, followed by their joint press conference.

Regarding the separate program for the UNSG’s spouse, Mrs. Ban Soon-taek met with Mrs. Pimpen Vejjajiva at the Government House. Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, accompanied by Mrs. Vejjajiva, visited the Arts of the Kingdom 5th Exhibition at the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall and the Enhancing Lives of Female Inmates (ELFI) Project or the Kamlangjai Project at Central Women Correction Institution in Bangkok, which is initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

In the afternoon, the UN Secretary General visited the United Nation Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and delivered a remarks on the occasion of the UN Day

The UN Secretary General and his party left Thailand in the evening for Cambodia before proceeding to attend the 3rd ASEAN Summit in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Thai Foreign Minister and spouse sent them off at the Suvanabhumi International airport.
