Stricter Security Measures Applied at Nanning Wuxu International Airport during Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informed by the Royal Thai Consulate in Nanning that according to Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, Nanning Wuxu International Airport would increase security measures from November 2010 onwards by tightening the level of inspection of passenger, belongings, hand and checked in luggage, including dangerous goods and vehicles entering into the Airport area.

In this regard, the Airport has announced additional security regulations for hand luggage. No more than 2 bottles of wine at the limited amount of 1,000 cc. and mobile phone batteries as well as laptops are not allowed to be checked in for transportation in the belly of the aircraft. No more than 2 thermometers are allowed to be carried on board. Furthermore, passengers are not allowed to consume alcohol before boarding.

Additionally, concerning the measure for air cargo goods, the Airport has applied stricter control measures and would not provide services for falsely declared goods or dangerous goods. Special procedures have been established for air cargo goods such as powder, liquids, chemical material, living creatures, etc. Furthermore, inspection reports from concerned authorities are required for the mentioned goods. Therefore, it is advisable that the passengers who wish to travel to the Airport during the mentioned period should arrive at the Airport at least one and a half hour before departure time and arrive at the Airport earlier during the peak hours, namely from 08.00 to 09.00, from 11.00 to 14.00 and from 17.00 to 21.00. It is expected that the Airport will enforce the stricter security measures for another week after the end of the Asian Games and the Asian Paragames.
