On 15 November 2010, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya hosted a luncheon in honour of Mr. Alberto Escudero Casquino, member of the Peruvian Congress and President of the Peru-Thailand Parliamentarians Friendship Group and his delegation, on the occasion of their visit to Thailand to commemorated the 45th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Peru at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Prior to the luncheon, Mr. Casquino and his delegation met with Mr. Isorn Pocmontri, Ambassador attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to exchange views on Thailand — Peru bilateral issues. Both sides were glad to learn that Thailand and Peru have continued their cordial and fruitful relationship for 45 years. They also agreed that, in spite of geographic distance between the two countries, their relationship could be fostered by enhancing their people’s awareness on tourism and education. In addition, Mr. Isorn conveyed a message of gratitude to the Congress of Peru for its crucial role in promoting closer ties between Thailand and Peru. He also noted with deep appreciation that, last year, the Congress of Peru passed a motion to extend best wishes to His Majesty the King of Thailand on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 82th Birthday Anniversary on 5 December 2009.
Thailand and Peru celebrated the 45th Anniversary of their diplomatic relations on 10 November 2553. This year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Embassy of Peru in Bangkok, will launch activities to commemorate the occasion, for example, the publication of a commemorative book that contains a chronology of Thailand — Peru relations.
