Official Visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste

On 14 — 15 January 2011, Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will pay an official visit to the Democratic Republic of Timor—Leste for the first time since assuming his position as Foreign Minister.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Kasit will pay courtesy calls on (1) President Jos? Ramos—Horta, (2) Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, and (3) Fernando de Ara?jo, President of the National Parliament. He will also meet with his Timorese counterpart, Mr. Zacarias Albano da Costa, to discuss various issues of mutual interest, particularly bilateral cooperation in the fields of technical assistance, fishery, education and energy, as well as Timor—Leste’s future membership into ASEAN, Thailand’s participation in the United Nations Mission in Timor—Leste (UNMIT), promotion of democracy and human rights protection, and the current situation in the region and beyond.
