On this occasion, Foreign Minister Kasit welcomed Ambassador Winther back to Thailand after having served in Thailand as First Secretary during 1995-1998.
Ambassador Winther mentioned that nowadays, Denmark and Thailand has cooperation in all levels and all areas, the most significant being the agricultural sector. However, Foreign Minister Kasit was of the view that Thailand still needs to learn more from Denmark, particularly in the areas of Danish expertise such as creative economy, industrial design, environmental preservation, oceanography, quality control, management and energy conservation. In this regard, Thailand has budget to engage in co-financing in the above areas of cooperation with Denmark and as a pilot project, the Foreign Ministry could cooperate with the Danish Embassy in Thailand in organizing a seminar on creative economy and industrial design to share Danish know-how to Thai craftsmen and artists who have both talent and creative thinking.
Aside from bilateral cooperation, Foreign Minister Kasit viewed that Thailand and Denmark could further cooperation in trilateral projects. Given that Ambassador Winther also covers Myanmar and Cambodia, projects such as bringing personnels from these countries to undergo training in medicine in Thailand would be helpful. In this regard, Ambassador Winther responded positively to Foreign Minister Kasit’s recommendations.
