Ambassador Cantellano expressed her admiration for Thailand’s economic development and noted that the promotion of cooperation on trade between Thailand and Mexico should also be encouraged. The two Ministers also agreed to an exchange of trade delegations between the two countries. Ambassador Cantellano further said that economic cooperation in ASEAN, especially the plan to establish ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 and cooperation with dialogue partners, will result in an expanded ASEAN market size. As a result, it will serve as a good opportunity for Mexico to increase trade and investment in this region.

On this occasion, the two Ministers also discussed other areas of potential cooperation, such as in the area of academia. They agreed that the exchange programme for students and scholars should be established. Likewise, Thai Studies in Mexico and Latin American Studies in Thailand should be encouraged in order to promote further understanding and people-to-people cooperation.
