On 11 May 2011, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miss Steluta Arhire, Romanian Charge d’affaires to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the latter’s new appointment to Thailand. On this occasion, both sides reaffirmed their determination to enhance good relations between Thailand and Romania especially in areas of economy, trade, and promotion of tourism.
Foreign Minister Kasit congratulated Miss Steluta and expressed Thailand’s willingness to fully support her mission in Thailand to ensure the most concrete outcome for cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, Foreign Minister Kasit proposed that Thailand and Romania should prioritize areas of cooperation whereby both countries were eager to pursue in the near future.
In addition, both sides agreed to enhance economic and trade cooperation, especially with regard to agricultural products. Foreign Minister Kasit also proposed the exchange of knowledge and experience on agriculture between Thailand and Romania, a move which would highly benefit the promotion of trade between the two countries. With its geographical location which links Central Europe to East Europe, Romania is potentially an excellent gateway for distribution of Thai products to other European countries.
Furthermore, Foreign Minister Kasit proposed the exchange of knowledge and expertise on tourism taking into consideration Romania’s considerable potential in the given area. Romania’s tourism scene contains numerous highlights such as historical and cultural tourism as well as health and spa tourism.
