Official visit of the President of the Republic of the Philippines to the Kingdom of Thailand 26 — 27 May 2011

H.E. Mr. Benigno S. Aquino III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand on 26 — 27 May 2011 at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of Thailand. The visit is part of the series of the visits to the ASEAN member countries since H.E. Benigno S. Aquino III has assumed office as the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines on 30 June 2010.

The welcoming ceremony will be held on 26 May 2011 at the Government House, followed by a bilateral discussion with H.E. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva. The topics of discussion will include various issues of mutual interest, particularly trade and investment, energy, education, counter-terrorism and transnational crimes as well as cooperation under the ASEAN framework and international issues, especially human rights protection and fight against human trafficking. H.E. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva will host a welcoming dinner in honour of the President at Santi Maitri Building.

On 27 May 2011, the President is scheduled to meet the Filipino community and receive the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Economics at Kasetsart University.

This Official Visit of H.E. Mr. Benigno S. Aquino III to Thailand will affirm the long-lasting and cordial relations between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1949. It will also provide a good opportunity for both sides to review and follow up cooperation in all areas for mutual benefit of the two countries and the peoples.
