Japanese Government expresses appreciation for Thai medical teams

On 20 May 2011, Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan, accompanied by the Thai medical team, paid a courtesy call on Ms. Makiko Kikuta, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, whereby the latter expressed her appreciation to Thailand for the assistance extended, especially from Their Majesties the King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family, and conveyed the Japanese people’s gratitude to the Thai medical team members.

The Thai medical team consists of one pediatrician and one nurse, sent by the Thai Government to Japan on 9 May 2011 to assist Japanese medical teams at Fukushima hospital in providing medical check-ups and advice to evacuees, especially young children currently living in evacuation shelters to Fukushima province and nearby areas.

On this occasion, the Thai medical team expressed their admiration for the Japanese people’s perseverance and orderliness even under times of crisis. The team also conveyed the best wishes of all Thai doctors to Japan, noting that many other Thai doctors also wished to travel to Japan to provide medical assistance to the Japanese. In addition, the Japanese media reported about the Thai medical team’s mission in Japan.
