Foreign Minister discusses political developments in Bahrain and bilateral cooperation with the Foreign Minister of Bahrain on the sidelines of the 38th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Astana

On 28 June 2011, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya met with H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmad bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, at the 38th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM 38) of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) held between 28 — 30 June 2011 in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan, to discuss issues of common interests and ways to further promote relations between the two countries.

Both sides discussed recent political developments in Bahrain, whereby Foreign Minister Kasit expressed Thailand’s support to the Government and people of Bahrain and praised the initiatives taken by His Majesty the King and the Government of Bahrain to resolve the situation, including the National Dialogue to be held in July 2011, which will involve all stakeholders. The Foreign Minister of Bahrain thanked the Government of Thailand for issuing three statements in support of his country, and reaffirmed the excellent relations between the two Kingdoms.

Foreign Minister Kasit further expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s support for Thailand in the OIC and confirmed that the relationship between Thailand and Bahrain will remain close, cordial and strong in the future.
