In response to media enquiries about the meeting between U Aung Kyi, Union Minister for Labour and for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement of Myanmar, and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on 25 July 2011, Mr. Jesda Katavetin, Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, stated that Thailand welcomes the said meeting which was another positive step in the national reconciliation process of Myanmar. Thailand hopes that such contacts and dialogue will continue on a regular basis, as Myanmar strives towards achieving national reconciliation for the benefit of the people of Myanmar and the ASEAN Community building process as a whole.
