On 25 August 2011, H.E. Mr. Apirath Vienravi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, presented a donation of 3,343.36 USD to Yangon Children’s Hospital. The contribution is part of the ongoing effort to support the work of the hospital and to pursue a project to restore the hospital and to purchase equipment for the hospital’s Dengue fever ward, partly funded by H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn last year.

This donation is Thailand’s humanitarian assistance to enhance cooperation in the health sector between Thailand and Myanmar, and is a part of the celebration of the 79th Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand.

On this occasion, Dr. Aung Kyi Wynn, Director of Yangon Children’s Hospital, expressed his appreciation especially to H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s generosity and the Thai people for supporting the hospital to provide better care to patients, which helped to decrease deaths from Dengue fever.

The hospital plans to place the current donation in a fund whereby additional essential medical equipment can be purchased. On this occasion, the Director of Yangon Children’s Hospital blessed Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and members of the Royal Family.
