Furthermore, the Foreign Minister will attend other meetings held on the sidelines of the UNGA, namely, 1) Informal ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (IAMM) to discuss preparations for the upcoming 19th ASEAN Summit in Bali in November 2011 and issues which are of ASEAN’s common interests in the UN framework, 2) Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Breakfast Meeting to discuss future co-operation in the ACD framework, 3) Informal Ministerial Meeting of the UN Democracy Caucus to discuss and exchange views on “Education for Democracy”, the theme of the Meeting, 4) Luncheon Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia — CICA, 5) High Level Meeting on Group of Friends of UNSG on Myanmar.

The Foreign Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General as well as with other foreign ministers, including those from the People’s Republic of China, Russia, Germany and Myanmar.

This year, the Foreign Ministry has selected two Thai youths (Mr. Worachon Dulyavitya and Mr. Kitprasert Nopparat) to be part of the Thai delegation to attend the UNGA. Recognising the important role of Thai youths in shaping Thai foreign policy, the Foreign Ministry has provided opportunities for Thai youths to attend international meetings. This is the fourth year in which Thai youths will participate in the Youth Week and other activities organised by the United Nations during the UNGA. They will also help draft and delivery statements on behalf of the Thai delegation as well as help consider UN resolutions on children’s rights.
