Thailand and Eritrea enhance their cooperation

On 7 December 2011, Mr. Alem Tsehaye Woldemariam, Ambassador of the State of Eritrea, with residence in New Delhi, Republic of India, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul.

In this regard, Foreign Minister Surapong welcomed the Ambassador to Thailand and extended his appreciation to the Ambassador for his participation in the Auspicious Celebration of His Majesty The King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary. Foreign Minister Surapong also thanked the State of Eritrea for supporting Thailand in various international fora. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Surapong was of the view that the relationship between Thailand and the State of Eritrea should be further strengthened and expanded, especially in the areas of trade, investment, fishery and cooperation for development.

On this occasion, the Ambassador took the opportunity to introduce the State of Eritrea, which is a relatively young country that recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the declaration of independence this year. Presently, the State of Eritrea implements policies of self-sufficiency, and provides satisfactory healthcare and educational services for her citizens. In addition, the Ambassador highlighted the abundant natural resource in the country, especially mineral resources and expressed the State of Eritrea’s readiness to strengthen and expand cooperation with Thailand.
