Thailand and El Salvador agree to enhance cooperation

On 7 December 2011, Mr. Ruben I. Zamora, Ambassador of the Republic of Elsalvador to Thailand, with residence in New Delhi, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand to attend the Auspicious Celebration of His Majesty the King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary.

Foreign Minister Surapong congratulated El Salvador for being elected as the member of Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations term 2012 - 2014 and expressed appreciation to El Salvador for supporting Dr. Kreingsak Kittichaiseri being the member of International Law Commission (ILC) for the 2012 — 2016 year term. In this regard, Thailand and El Salvador are always allies to support each other in international fora. Furthermore, their bilateral relations have significantly developed, especially in the area of trade and investment. In this connection, the two countries should enhance relations in other area, which have potential for cooperation.

The Ambassador expressed appreciation to Thailand for supporting El Salvador’s being the member of ECOSOC and agreed with the Foreign Minister’s view on strengthening Thailand — El Salvador’s bilateral ties.

On this occasion, the Foreign Minister also thanked the Government and the people of El Salvador for their concern over flood situation in Thailand and informed the Ambassador of the Government’s rehabilitation and recovery measures.
