Laos Ambassador bids farewell to the Foreign Minister

On 9 November 2011, Mr. Ouan Phommachack, Ambassador of Laos to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, on the Ambassador’s completion of duty in Thailand.

In this regard, the Ambassador expressed appreciation for all co-operations from the Thai Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the past 5 years while he was in his duty. Thailand’s support on transportation connectivity between the two countries, especially on the opening of the 3rd Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge (Nakorn Phanom — Khammouan) transforms Laos from Land-locked to Land-link country. The Ambassador also stated that the current relations between Thailand and Laos could be an example for cooperation with others countries in the region.

Foreign Minister Surapong expressed appreciation for the Ambassador’s assistance in promoting closer ties for the peoples of both countries. The Foreign Minister also congratulated Lao’s for holding the Year of Tourism next year and reiterated Thailand’s readiness to be of assistance in all its related activities. Moreover, the Foreign Minister mentioned that Thailand’s full support for Laos to be the host of the 9th Asia Europe Meeting in 2012. Both sides also agreed to hold the Thai — Laos Joint Commission Meeting early next year.
