Mr. Xi Jinping, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, is scheduled to officially visit Thailand as a guest of the Royal Thai Government from 22 — 24 December 2011. He is scheduled to have a meeting with the Prime Minister in order to exchange views on bilateral relations between Thailand and China, regional, and international cooperation and other issues of mutual interest to both sides.
In addition, the Vice President is scheduled to meet with important personages that are long-time friends of China. The Vice President is also expected to visit rehabilitation and shelter centres in the aftermath of the floods in Thailand, and will visit the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University.
The Vice President will be the highest level representative of the Chinese Government to visit Thailand after the formation of the new Thai Government, which reflects the continued confidence that China has in Thailand. The visit will be a good opportunity to review and enhance cooperation in various areas between Thailand and China, and will therefore contribute to the deepening of the strategic partnership between Thailand and China and the cultivation of personal relationship between the leaders of our two countries in the future.
