Increasing Trade and Investment between Thailand Nicaragua

On 30 April 2012, H.E. Mr. Orlando Salvador Solorzano Delgadillo, Minister of Development, Industry and Commerce of the Republic of Nicaragua held bilateral talks with Mr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on the occasion of his visit as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides exchanged views on issue of mutual interests and opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and investment.

Mr. Solorzano was appointed by H.E. Mr. Daniel Ortega, President of the Republic of Nicaragua, to visit Thailand and to work closely with Thai counterpart to strengthen the relations and exchange views on issues of mutual interests. Nicaragua recognizes Thailand’s important role in Asia and its strategic location in ASEAN. Likewise, Nicaragua is located in an important position in the Central America. Therefore, this geographical advantage will help both countries to further expand trade ties and investment opportunities.

Foreign Minister Surapong expressed his appreciation for the delegation’s visit to Thailand. Both sides were encouraged by the potential room for both countries to further strengthen bilateral relations, such as in trade, investment and tourism. In addition, Foreign Minister Surapong was delighted to learn that the delegation had visited and exchanged views with many Thai authorities such as the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Board of Investment and the Ministry of Industry, in which these visits will further enhance the bilateral relations between Thailand and Nicaragua.
