The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C., in cooperation with the John F. Kennedy for Performing Arts, organized a special concert by VieTrio, a Thai classical/pop crossover group, on the evening of May 13, 2012. The performance by VieTrio drew over 400 people from the D.C. Metropolitan area to the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage.
The group played a variety of songs for the audience, including Thai traditional music pieces from different regions of Thailand, Thai pop songs, His Majesty the King’s composition “Lom Now” or Love in Spring, and the Royal Anthem. The recorded performance can be viewed at (http://www.kennedy-center.org/explorer/videos/?id=M5027&type=A). The performance introduced contemporary Thai pop culture to the audience in the U.S. while bringing some familiar tunes to Thais who came to see the new generation of talented young musicians from their home country.
The performance by VieTrio is part of the Royal Thai Embassy’s cultural performance/art series, aiming at introducing and promoting Thai culture to the American public.
