Foreign Minister to attend Counter Piracy Conference in Dubai

On 27 — 28 June 2012, Mr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, will visit Dubai to attend the Second High-Level Public-Private Counter Piracy Conference, to be hosted by the Government of the United Arab Emirates and DP World, the world’s fourth largest port operator.

The two-day conference aims to find sustainable solutions to the increasing threat of piracy on national and regional security and enhance public-private partnership in addressing the root causes of piracy.

Foreign Minister Surapong will join the ministers and senior government officials from over 50 countries as well as CEOs of leading companies in maritime-related industries in the discussion to share experiences and ideas on how to face and respond to the challenges of maritime piracy.

During his stay in Dubai, the Foreign Minister will also have bilateral talks with his ministerial colleagues from the Middle East and Africa.
