Official Visit of the Prime Minister of Thailand to the Republic of Mozambique from 28 — 30 July 2013

At the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Armando Emilio Gu?buza, President of the Republic of Mozambique, Her Excellency Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra will pay an official visit to the Republic of Mozambique during 28 — 30 July 2013. This visit will mark the first ever visit to the Republic of Mozambique by the Prime Minister of Thailand, as well as kick-start Prime Minister Yingluck’s first official visits to African countries comprising Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda.

On 29 July 2013, the two leaders will have a bilateral meeting on issues of mutual concern and interest namely, agriculture, infrastructure development, energy, public health, human resources development and gemology. The Prime Minister will also extend an invitation to the Mozambican President to participate in the High Level Dialogue between Thai and African leaders in 2014 as part of Thailand’s “Thai - African Initiative”, which aims to enhance partnership between Asia and Africa. The Prime Minister of Thailand will meet the Speaker of the Parliament to discuss ways and means to promote bilateral cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. The two leaders will also preside over the signing ceremony of bilateral agreements in the areas of technical cooperation, visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders, tourism, trade and economic cooperation, civil aviation, food security, trade and investment in agricultural products and commodities, among others.

On 29 July 2013, the two leaders will attend and deliver remarks at the Business Forum, which will be attended by major Thai and Mozambican entrepreneurs. During the Forum, the Thai Prime Minister will present a “package” consisting of multi-purpose truck, tuk-tuk, air conditioning units, computer sets, species of red tilapia, as a token of goodwill and friendship. Scholarships, training courses, projects on developmental cooperation, especially “Thai Volunteers” will be presented to the Mozambican Government as the part of Thailand’s technical cooperation package.
