On 23 January 2008, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain and uncle of H.M. the King of Bahrain, will pay a working visit to Thailand as Guest of the Royal Thai Government.
Prime Minister of Bahrain is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok in the morning of 14 January 2008 and will be received by Mr. Nitya Pibulsonggram, Minister of Foreign Affairs. His Highness will be in Bangkok on a private visit and will start his working visit on 23 January 2008. On the morning of 23 January, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa will be received at the Government House by Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont. The two sides will hold bilateral talks and discuss means of bolstering relations before proceeding to luncheon hosted by the Prime Minister in honour of Prime Minister of Bahrain.
This visit takes place at the cordial invitation of Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont, extended to Bahraini Prime Minister during his official visit to Manama last December. It underscores the special relations between the two kingdoms, especially after the Embassy of Bahrain to Thailand started its operation since last November.
During the visit, the two sides will discuss various topics of bilateral cooperation, including the cooperation in the Organization of Islamic Conference , cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and investment as well as culture. It is expected that the MOU on Health Cooperation will be signed during this visit.
