The Thai Foreign Minister reiterated that Thailand was ready to open up the market for foreign investors and expected the ASEAN-EU Free trade Agreement to be concluded in the near future. Thailand would also work closely with the EC regarding ongoing negotiation regarding the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation.
As for the situation in the Southern Border Provinces of Thailand, the EC Director General confirmed the EU’s commitment to assist Thailand, especially on the development programs in the area. The Foreign Minister welcomed the said cooperation and responded that the Royal Thai Government would take the reconciliation measures in solving the problem.
Concerning the EU’s interest in the issue of displaced people in Thailand, Foreign Minister Noppadon stated that the Thailand cooperated with the Lao PDR on this issue.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Noppadon extended an invitation to Mr. Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, to visit Thailand.
